Very popular are lemon and lime, which, although they have a lot in common, have slightly unique properties. What is healthier than a lime or a lemon? What do we find in them? Let’s find out.
Lemon and lime are fruits of related plants. Their homeland is Asia. It is believed that in ancient times they were grown in China. Interestingly enough, they no longer grow in that country. Despite their common roots, these fruits prefer different growing conditions. Lemons do best in warm climates and need a lot of sunlight. Limes are more demanding because they are best grown in tropical and subtropical climates.
The common denominator of both fruits is a tart and sour taste. In the end, the differences are clearly palpable. The lemon is milder and sweeter; the lime is more expressive and bitter. If you compare their appearance, you can easily see the difference. The lemon has a thick, bright yellow skin and an oblong shape. Limes are smaller, round, and have a thinner, green skin.
Which is healthier than a lime or a lemon? Lemon is considered a proven remedy for the first symptoms of a cold or flu. This is because of the solid dose of vitamin C - the juice, squeezed from one fruit, satisfies the daily need for this important substance. In addition, it contains important elements such as potassium, sodium, calcium and magnesium. Lemon deserves everyone’s attention because it contains valuable flavonoids, powerful antioxidants that protect the body from many diseases of civilization, especially diseases related to the circulatory system.
The useful properties of the lime are like those of the lemon, but its resources are smaller. However, this does not mean that this fruit does not have beneficial effects on the human body. First of all, it contains antioxidants that remove toxins and destroy free radicals. In addition, they reduce the risk of cancer, prevent the aging of the body and prevent the development of dangerous civilization diseases, such as, for example, Alzheimer’s disease.
It is worth knowing that a healthy body maintains an acid-alkaline balance and protects it from acidification. When it fails, there is a negative reaction that affects the body.
A good way to start the day is to drink a glass of water mixed with the juice of a lemon or lime. Thanks to this simple procedure, the feeling of satiety increases, the metabolism is sped up and toxins are effectively eliminated from the body.
