Industrial and household waste is the main garbage produced by humanity. To keep it from emitting harmful substances, it needs to be disposed of. The greatest amount of waste is produced by the coal industry and metallurgy, thermal power plants and agricultural agrochemicals. Over the years, the amount of toxic waste has increased. As they decompose, they not only contaminate water, land, air but also contaminate plants, animals, negatively affect human health. Hazardous waste dumps that have been forgotten and houses and various buildings erected in their place are a separate danger. Such contaminated areas can be places where there were nuclear explosions underground.

Garbage collection and transportation

Various types of waste and garbage are collected in special bins installed near all residential buildings and public buildings, and in street garbage cans. Recently, garbage sorters designed for certain types of waste have been used:

  • glass;
  • paper and cardboard;
  • plastic waste;
  • other types of waste.

Using bins with separation of garbage into types is the first stage of its disposal. This makes it easier for workers at landfills to sort it. Further, some types of waste are sent for recycling, for example, paper and glass. Other types of waste are sent to landfills and burial sites.

As for trash removal, it occurs at certain intervals, but it does not help to eliminate some problems. Garbage containers are in poor sanitary and hygienic condition, attracting insects and rodents, and giving off unpleasant odors.

Waste management issues

Garbage disposal in our world is very poor for several reasons:

  • Inadequate funding;
  • The problem of coordinating waste collection and neutralization activities;
  • Poor network of recycling companies;
  • Poor public awareness of the need to sort garbage and dispose of it only in designated containers;
  • the potential of waste recycling for secondary raw materials is not used.

One way to dispose of garbage is by composting some types of waste. The most forward-thinking companies produce biogas from waste and leftover raw materials. It can be used for production and applied to everyday life. The most common method of garbage disposal, which is implemented in many places, is the incineration of solid waste.

In order not to drown in garbage, humanity should think about solving the problem of disposal of waste and change the actions aimed at neutralizing the waste. It can be recycled. Although this will take a considerable amount of finances, but to invent alternative energy sources.

Solving global pollution problems

Waste management, household and industrial waste solve such a global problem as pollution. Experts estimate that humanity produces about 3.5 million tons of waste per day in 2010. The biggest amount of waste is accumulated in the urbanized areas. Environmentalists predict that at this rate, by 2025, people will produce about 6 million tons of waste per day. If things keep going this way, in 80 years this figure will reach 10 million tons per day and people will literally drown in their own garbage.

Just to reduce littering of the planet, and need to implement recycling. North America and Europe are doing it most actively, since those are the regions that make the biggest contribution to the pollution of the planet. Waste management today is increasingly gaining momentum, as the environmental culture of people is growing and innovative eco-technologies, which are increasingly being introduced into the production process of many modern enterprises.

While the environmental situation is improving in America and Europe, the problem of environmental pollution by garbage is increasing in other parts of the world. For example, in Asia, namely in China, the volume of waste is growing regularly, and experts predict that by 2025 these figures will increase. By 2050, the amount of waste in Africa is expected to increase intensively. The problem of garbage pollution must not only be solved quickly but also evenly geographically and, if possible, eliminate future accumulation of waste. Thus, recycling facilities and enterprises should be set up in all countries of the world and an information policy should be implemented for the population, so they sort waste and use resources correctly and save natural and artificial goods.
